Sewer Infiltration & Inflow Improvement Plan (Gulfport)
September 28, 2016
The residents of Gulfport have questions about the status of our sewer repairs, where is work being done and are we financing the project approperiately. I, for one, have studied our plan extensively, seeking updates from our City Manager and his staff regularly. I am happy to report, as has been suggested to other cities in our area, that Gulfport has taken full advantage of low-interest rate loans from the "State Revolving Fund," available from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
What I have done here on this page, is provide you key information from the December 2015 and August 2016 "sewer repair" updates. Each was discussed extensively (including a mid-2015 update) during City Council meetings. Gulfport has an aggressive sewer improvement plan, carefully balanced with addressing repair in a priority order, and staging work before road pavings. Much of the work does not nequire digging up entire streets. Lastly, not necessarily detailed in the plans are the "emergency" repairs that pop up (and they do) and must be addressed immediately.
Please review the slides and notations below. I hope you find this helpful.
